Refractory products are materials that remain stable at extremely high temperatures. Most of these products are remarkably resistant to wear and extreme temperatures, as well as chemical erosion. They are also exceptionally pure, which is why they are often used in high-tech industries.
Refractory materials can be divided into three families:
- metal oxides (or ceramics)
- carbide-based composites
- sillicide-based composites
Depending on the composition of the base material, refractory products are designed for different uses in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, metal casting and cement and ceramics industries.
